Image Licensing
Every photograph on this site comes from my own field record — 20+ years of excavation documentation and earth-science photography, maintained since 1994. The images shown on the site are reduced-resolution, watermarked copies. High-resolution originals are available under a written license.
What’s in the archive
- The Stegosaurus “Sarah/Sophie” excavation (Shell, Wyoming, 2004) — the specimen now displayed at the Natural History Museum, London. First-hand excavation photography from discovery through jacketing.
- The Camarasaurus excavation (Red Canyon Ranch, Shell, Wyoming, 2007) — the >90%-complete specimen now at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, Japan, photographed in situ throughout the dig.
- Como Bluff, Wyoming (1990s) — field seasons with Dr. Robert T. Bakker, including “Bertha,” a sauropod pubis.
- Seismograph history — David Reynolds’ hand-built instrument and the tape that recorded the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, plus the working home station that succeeds it.
- Morrison Formation localities, Death Valley geology, and California wildlife.

How it works
- Inquire — use the licensing inquiry form and describe the image(s) and intended use.
- Quote — licensing is rights-managed; pricing depends on the use, run, and territory, and is quoted individually. Inquiries are typically answered within a few business days.
- License and delivery — on agreement you receive a written license and the high-resolution file(s), clean of watermarks.

Station data is different by design: the seismic catalog and time-series published on the Detected Earthquakes page are free to reuse under CC BY 4.0 — only the photographs are rights-managed.
